Dashful for Excel

Help for the Excel add-in

Install the add-in, send sheets, read dashboards in the panel, keep them in sync, and use Dashful in formulas.

Install

From Microsoft Marketplace, once Dashful is listed there: in Excel, choose Home → Add-ins, search for Dashful and choose Add.

At a firm on Microsoft 365, your admin can deploy it to everyone at once. See "For IT admins" below.

To install it yourself before then, download the manifest (the URL is below). Excel on the web: Home → Add-ins → More Settings, then Upload My Add-in and choose the file. Excel on Mac: copy the file to ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Documents/wef/ and restart Excel. Excel on Windows: put it in a shared folder, add that folder under File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Trusted Add-in Catalogs with Show in Menu ticked, restart Excel, then Home → Add-ins → Advanced → Shared Folder.

Open it with the Dashful button on the Home tab. On older Excel without the button, use Insert → My Add-ins.

Manifest URL: https://addin.dashful.ai/manifest.xml

The first time, the panel shows what Dashful does and what leaves the workbook. Choose Get started, then Sign in to Dashful.

A window opens on Dashful. Sign in, pick the workspace, tick Also allow changes so the add-in can send sheets, and choose Allow. You can create a Dashful account on the same page.

Prefer a token? Choose Use a personal access token instead and paste a token made in Dashful under Settings → Security. If your company runs Dashful itself, set its address under Server settings.

Sign out is at the top of the panel. It ends the sign-in on this computer and revokes it in Dashful.

Send sheets and approve a dataset

Under Use these sheets, tick the sheets or Excel tables, or The whole workbook. Choose the project, optionally say what you want to see, and choose Send.

Dashful receives the calculated values, not the formulas. The workbook gets an id saved in its own settings, so renaming the file or a sheet changes nothing.

Dashful's AI proposes a dataset that joins the sheets: the joins in plain words with their match rate, the measures, and a reconciliation check for each sheet. Approve it, or review it in Dashful first.

Dashboards in the panel

Build a dashboard from a suggested or typed prompt. The tiles draw in the panel, light or dark with Excel's theme, and Refresh recomputes them.

When the dashboard has levers and your plan includes the simulator, sliders show what would change. Nothing is saved.

Open in Dashful opens it in your browser. Publish appears when your role and plan allow it.

Insert as table writes a tile's rows into a new sheet as an Excel table, with a note on where and when they came from. Refresh inserted tables brings them up to date.

Keep in sync

Keep in sync automatically is on by default, per workbook. A changed sheet is sent about 30 seconds after your last edit; Sync now sends at once. Each sheet shows when it last synced.

A failed send is tried twice more, then shows Retry. Offline, it waits until you are back. If a sheet's columns change, it waits for you to choose Load anyway.

Syncing happens only while the workbook is open. While it's closed, Dashful keeps the last version sent. On older Excel, it happens only while the panel is open.

Formulas

=DASHFUL.MEASURE(measure, [period], [filters], [dataset]) returns one number from the project chosen in the panel, for example =DASHFUL.MEASURE("Revenue", "2026-09"). The period can be blank (the latest month with data), all, 2026, 2026-Q3, 2026-09, a date, or two of those joined by "..". Filters look like "Region=West; Channel!=Online", or can be a range of rows.

=DASHFUL.TABLE(dashboard, tile) spills a dashboard tile's rows, headers first, up to 1,000 rows. The tile is a title or a position (1 is the first).

Both are computed by Dashful under your access, so row rules apply. Answers are kept for a minute; Refresh Dashful formulas in the panel recalculates them now.

#VALUE! with "Sign in to Dashful in the task pane" means the panel isn't signed in or has no project chosen. #N/A means nothing matched, with Dashful's message.

Older Excel and iPad

Excel 2016 for Mac, volume-licensed Excel 2016 and 2019 on Windows, and Excel on iPad can't run an add-in's shared runtime. There the add-in installs as a plain panel, opened from Insert → My Add-ins.

In the plain panel you can send sheets, approve datasets, read dashboards and insert tiles as tables, and syncing runs while the panel is open. The DASHFUL formulas and the ribbon button need Excel on the web, Microsoft 365 Excel on Windows (Version 2002 or later) or Mac (16.35 or later), or Excel 2021 or later.

For IT admins

In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Settings → Integrated apps → Upload custom apps, choose Office Add-in, then Provide link to the manifest file and paste the manifest URL below. Assign it to yourself first, then to groups or the whole organization.

Staff need a Microsoft 365 licence with an Exchange Online mailbox. It can take up to 24 hours to reach everyone, and they may need to restart Excel. Each person signs in to Dashful with their own account, so invite them to your Dashful workspace first.

Volume-licensed Excel 2016 and 2019 can't receive centrally deployed add-ins: put the manifest on a network share and add it as a Trusted Add-in Catalog instead.

Manifest URL: https://addin.dashful.ai/manifest.xml

Remove the add-in

Excel on the web or Windows: Home → Add-ins → More Settings → My Add-ins, then the … menu on Dashful and Remove. Excel on Mac: remove it under My Add-ins, or delete a sideloaded manifest from the wef folder. If your admin deployed it, ask them.

Removing the add-in doesn't delete anything in Dashful. The sheets already sent, their datasets and dashboards stay until you delete them in Dashful.

If something doesn't work

The sign-in window doesn't open: allow pop-ups for Excel on the web, and allow app.dashful.ai and addin.dashful.ai through any web filter.

A sheet isn't sent: sheets with no data rows, or that look like pivot tables, are skipped, and the panel says why.

Out of AI credits: the panel says so. Credits and plans are managed in Dashful on the web.
